RUNWAY RUNDOWN: NYFW/SS18 9.6.17-9.7.17

9.6.17/3pm: M65 Presentation

Starting off NYFW a day early, we were looking forward to an illuminating presentation from M65, put on by NYFW guru Sydney Reising. The second installment of the M65 collection by Anthony Hendrickson was a direct reflection of his childhood. Brazen and uninhibited, the collection was free-flowing with oversized denim jackets adorning floral tops and bright hues. Menswear often shifts towards darker hues so we appreciated the neon red and yellow showed in the collection. Hendrickson says he would like the collection to be viewed as two capsule collections- one the denim pieces and the other being the leather and fur. As seasons start to blend more and more into each other, the season-less collection lead to Hendrickson truly following his vision. Our favorites were the meticulously made leather jackets- a staple any man needs in his wardrobe.

9.6.17/6pm: Direct Smile

Mens grooming has grown leaps and bounds in the past year but we are still missing a key component- teeth care. Direct Smile recognizes the glaring gap and they have been fast at work to create a teeth whitening that is easy to use and actually works. We got an exclusive #behindthescenes first look into their product- which won't officially hit stores until January 2019. While we can't give too much away, we can tell you that it only takes 15 minutes three times a week- and you can charge your phone while whitening your teeth. We met up with influencer Sabrina of Stylophyle who was happy to get a NYFW teeth touch-up in time for her full schedule of shows and Sarah Chiwaya of Curvily who was hosting an exclusive jacket collaboration event two days later. While not experts ourselves, Direct Smile offers teeth straightening at a reduced rate which Liz Black from PS It's Fashion was overheard about how its already helped her. Advice for any guy- get your teeth #groomed and stop in at Direct Smile.

9.6.17/2pm- Malan Breton

Held at the Intrepid Museum, we always look forward to Malan Breton's menswear collection. This season, Breton names his collection "Yellow Submarine", using the color subtly in his mens collection along with strong blues and whites. Using his unique drapery techniques, we enjoyed how he brought some femininity to some of the mens looks. Breton's mix of lengths within the collection- i.e using blazers with shorts, or shirts with long pants made the pieces modern and fall within the current trends of mens fashion. Our favorite piece of the collection is the black pants in the collection- you can dress those up or down, even as a new menswear street-wear silhouette. The impeccably tailored jackets are always a hit, Breton delivered when it mattered most- rumors had it the Bravo cameras were running.

9.6.17/5pm- Hunter x Isamaya Ffrench

Collaborations are always a huge mark during NYFW and this one is no exception. Opening a pop-up at Dover Street Market in East Midtown NYC, Hunter collaborated with Ffrench, giving their bags an art update. Aliens, wolves, and musical notes were hand-painted on to leather canvas. Like any art collectors piece, there are only 50 of each print in the world, so once they were scooped up, that's all folks. By doing this, it adds an element of exclusivity which helps sell in today's retail scope. We particularly enjoyed the werewolf art piece and so did the attendees. Coming a long way from the rubber boots that made them a household name, we appreciate how Hunter has reinvented and reinvigorated themselves into the discussion as a major fashion force to be reckoned with. The collaboration will be available at Dover Street Market London only until September 15 and are already selling out fast.

9.6.17/7:30pm- Mixology Clothing Company x W Hotel New York Pop-Up Launch

The clothing company's annual NYFW event coincides with their pop-up shop launch within the infamous W Hotel in Times Square. Greeted warmly by Kiara Horwitz of KHPR, the party kicked off the second we stepped off the 7th Floor to the Living Room bar and lounge. The decor is a modern nod to the old arcades in Times Square, perfect for a celebration. Hosted by Style Expert Dawn Del Russo, cocktails courtesy of Deep Eddy Vodka, and a photo booth, the party was off and guests were dancing the evening away. We were pleasantly surprised to hear that up-and-coming singer Bianca Monica was going to perform exclusively for the audience, making her debut to NYFW. After hearing her, we were blown away and had no choice but to add her single 'Phases' to our current playlist. What we enjoyed most is guests actually interacted with each other and meeting others in the New York Fashion community. Shop the special pop up shop NOW before all the goodies are gone!
