RUNWAY RUNDOWN: NYFWM SS19

7.9.2018 10:30am Krammer & Stoudt

Aptly named “8 Days in Japan", the SS19 collection took inspiration from designer Mike Rubin's first visit to Japan. We knew we were in a show when Brooklyn street dancers served both as models and performed a live dance for editors to marvel at. We love when a designer doesn't go too literal and Rubin remained true to the brand while deriving his Japanese inspiration. We could tell the juxtaposition between peacefulness and the chaotic nature of the Tokyo streets. The color palette was predominately neutrals, mixing and matching denim, beige, and whites for a crisp, clean feeling even with the elongated silhouettes. We enjoyed the theme and are eager to see it interpreted into a Fall collection as well.

7.9.2018 11:15am David Hart

As much as we love the street-wear trend in mens, we are always excited to see finely tailored pieces and David Hart did not disappoint. Hart's SS19 collection was inspired by the 1970's Watergate Scandal and the investigative journalism that lead to the downfall of many high power players. The color motif was evident with burnt orange, yellow, green, and navy blues on display. We enjoyed the jacquard suit, for those more conservative, you could wear each as separates with a white button down or khaki pants to break up the print. The attention to detail- the flare at the end of the pant, strong accessories including Louboutins- were also something that caught our eye. Fashion is all about taking you to an era and Hart nailed it in every way.

7.10.2018 2:00pm Romeo Hunte

The runway show Hunte put on was truly a spectacle at PHD Rooftop. The SS19 collection was inspired Brooklyn street style, made for any guy who wants a luxurious piece with an edge. Playing with both modern and classic silhouettes, Hunte paired tailored shorts made from Neroprene with luxe oversized coats that were meticulously made. We loved the pops of colors, especially the bright orange used throughout the collection and the turquoise footwear. The attitude of each model was one of power which is what one wants to feel while wearing one of Hunte's pieces. We spotted some celebs in the audience, including Corey Clement, Eagles football player and Sam Clemmett, one of the stars of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" which showed to us that Hunte's line is revered by a wide variety of men. We can't wait to see what Hunte will come out with next.
