9.8.2016 / 9:00am: Nicholas K. Rising early for the first show at the Dock at Skylight Moynihan Station, we were ready to see the Nicholas K runway show. The premiere of fashion week was solemn due to t the passing of God Father of street photography. Designers and photographers alike paid tribute to legendary photographer Bill Cunningham by wearing his customary blue smock. Inside, this seasons Nicholas K collection was shown. Its inspirations derived from the indie film "
2.13.16/6pm: Diesel Flagship Store Launch Kicking things up a notch this NYFW, Diesel decided this would be a perfect time to launch their new flagship store on Madison Avenue. We're sure with the new direction from creative director Nicola Formichetti, the brand will be at Madison Avenue to stay. Waiting until "everybody was in town," Formichetti decided this was the time to throw an extravagant party at the new location and then to rent out a mansion just a few blocks away.
6:30pm: Arden Wohl x Cri de Coeur Disruptive Fashion Experience The Arden Wohl x Cri de Couer presentation was done via a public installation on the corner of 30th Street and 8th Avenue. Getting us excited for our own trip to Paris in a few weeks, the collection breathed French elegance, transporting you from a New York City corner to your Parisian dreams. The fun and flirty variety of shoes attracted a large NYC crowd, excited to be a part of the beginnings of New York Fashi
Kicking off our New York Fashion Week festivities was the Epson "Digital Couture" event, one of the first true collaborations between a huge modern technology company and fashion. Epson featured 11 designers from both North and South America. As we walked through the projectory on both sides, we saw that Epson had a space where they showed their Surecolor F Series, the latest cutting edge fabric printing and design technology, which resulted in a t-shirt for every guest. This
A unique point of view - most designers have it, and nobody does it better than David Tlale. Sitting front row for his A/W 2015 Collection, we were pleasantly surprised when supermodel - and our personal muse - Tyson Beckford walked out for a second season in a row. The collection had everything one can look for in a line: neutrals, a layered tribal pattern, switching into gold and silver metallics, and so much more. Dividing the collection up into sections worked for Tlale d
Our last show of the weekend was the main event of Nolcha Fashion Week, Portuguese up-and-coming designer Katty Xiomara. Attending the show were numerous VIPS, including A-List star Christina Milan, who walked in hand-in-hand with her sister, who was wearing an exclusive Katty Xiomara design. However, once everybody stopped looking at all the celebrities, we were reminded very quickly the reason why we we were all there. Xiomara sent down her "RE-evolution" collection, filled
Design duo Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra took us out of the city and into the woods with their latest collection. The "hipster duo" used the forest inspiration as their runway backdrop by snapping images of the land then translating the theme by reconstructing it through watercolors. The warm earth tones of brown, burgundy, and forest green in the collection reflect the woods they traveled in. For us, the standout pieces featured plaids mixed with soft silhouettes
Traditionally, Sundays were meant for church. We stuck with that tradition by attending Laurel Dewitt's A/W Runway show at the Holy Apostles Church, featuring her special guest of honor, Amber Rose. If you thought that was different, that was only the beginning. Sending out a child as your first look (and only kidswear look) was bold, yet done without a second thought in Dewitt's genius mind. Rose was put in the middle of the show - yet again, untraditionally so - in a breath
(snapshots from @skingraftdesigns instagram) To say we've been looking forward to Skingraft all of NYFW is an understatement. Walking in early, we saw a mob surrounding rapper Fabolous, dressed in all white with his son, Johan, dressed just as dapper as his dad. We were loving Kate Nash's style, MRMS and her hair, and the always fabulous Miss J. Alexander, who was chatting them up. After the audience was "shushed" before the start of the show, it was all about the clothing. T
Nolcha Fashion Week held their semi-annual Media Fashion Lounge at the newest location of steakhouse Fogo de Chao. We managed to stop in between shows to check out the emerging, independent brand newcomers to the fashion world. We caught up with footwear brand Paul Drish, and adored their spring line filled with loafers and beautiful leather bags. Right next to them, we met with a rep from Schyler 4 Collective, which is an international showroom just making their presence kno
